Why Post Consumer Recycled Materials?

Creating this product took months of research and thoughtful consideration. Our goal was to tackle the growing issue of unkept and unhygienic community spaces in the Philippines. To create a local movement and promote responsible pet ownership without harming the environment 🤔 But through our research, we uncovered the harsh reality: there’s no way out. Plastics are plastics and many poop bag companies aren't transparent about how ineffective their products truly are. Biodegradable, compostable and “plant-based” poop bags don’t break down in the Philippines’ poor waste management systems (and still contain PBAT.. basically plastic). Flushable bags are the same, but worse because they clog our sewage systems, contributing to flooding and microplastics in the ocean.

With that, we came up with Pick-A-Poop Bags, made with certified 80% post-consumer recycled materials. This choice results in a lower carbon footprint compared to “eco-friendly” alternatives that are not fit for our local systems. However, we recognize that to really address plastic pollution, we must still do our part in reducing waste whenever we can, reusing materials, and giving new life to what would otherwise end up in landfills.
